Announcing the 13th Annual Gandhi walkathon and India Festival in September 2019. Date and venue TBA. Stay tuned! This year marks the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and we want to make the event extra special!. All proceeds will be donated to EMPTY BOWLS Monongalia, that provides resources and broker assistance to Monongalia County agencies supporting individuals and families threatened by food insecurity.
The goal of our annual Gandhi Day event is to promote Mahatma Gandhi’s message of peace, non-violence and unity. At the same time, it is an opportunity to serve the local community: Every year, the proceeds are donated to a local charity.
We are glad to inform that we were able to raise $5000 towards WVU Medicine Children's hospital through our 12th annual Gandhi day Walkathon and India Festival.
This is the 12th year in a row that we have been able to support local charities through this event. Over the last 12 years, we have raised $30,000 towards charities in the greater Morgantown area. The proceeds from this event have been donated to several local charities: Milan Puskar Health Right Clinic (2017), Eye foundation of America (2016), Habitat for Humanity (2015), Stepping stones (2014), Shack neighborhood House (2013), WVU Children's hospital (2012), Scott settlement House (2011), Morgantown Soup Kitchen (2010) and Ronald McDonald House (2009).
We would like to thank all the community members, volunteers and the sponsors for their participation in making this event a success. We look forward to your continued participation in the upcoming years.
